Title: 2TB Drives & Firmware 1.08 Downgradable?
Post by: dingmah on December 30, 2009, 11:38:25 PM
I'll be picking up the DNS-323 tomorrow, and my local store has a great deal on the new Hitachi Deskstar 2TB drives. Some people have been posting that they've had success with 2TB using firmware 1.07, and others have not. So is it possible to upgrade to firmware 1.08 first, and if that doesn't work, then downgrade back to firmware 1.07? Thank you.

yes, you can downgrade again.

But allways reformat the drives/RAID when downgrading 1.07 as the Ext2 format seems to have slightly changed with firmware 1.08.

But believe me - you don't want to downgrade  ;D

You can downgrade, but I've been running the 1.08b5 and 1.08b8 since they were released with no issues.  I also doubt you'll want to downgrade.

Looking at the release notes for 1.08... I ALSO suspect I won't want to downgrade, haha.

Just thought that I should report my Hitachi Deskstar 2TB HDD has been working flawlessly since day 1. I flashed to firmware 1.08, popped in the drive and the DNS-323 detected it and reformatted it.
