Has anyone tried installing the WD Scorpio Blue 750gb or 1TB 2.5" drives into the 685?

Nope, but ensure that the disk hight isn't to big!
I think there is a D-Link note about discs over 500GB may not Physically fit in the drive slot due to the disc hight of those drives....... (It will take alot of time to fill that disk ;-) )

it works whit samsung sata II 500 GB ;)

The WD Scorpio Blue 1TB or 750GB drive will not fit! The largest capacity drive is WD Scorpio Blue 650GB. The performance on the NAS is very slow, max transfer speeds even over a Gigabit Ethernet connection is 3.60 mb/sec.

The WD Scorpio Blue 750 GB and 1 TB uses the the new Advanced Format sector size but it only works natively in Windows 7, Vista. XP requires a software fix. The 1 TB drive is 12.5 mm thick but the 750 GB is only 9.5 mm thick. I have the WD Scorpio Blue 640 GB HD in my router and it is only 9.5 mm thick as well and it works perfectly. I am not sure that the 1 TB will work due to it may be to thick to fit.
