Hello,
I am looking for a product to help monitor or stop employee misuse of internet at work. Gaming, chat, e-mail, downloading movies, music, youtube, facebook, etc. I am looking at getting something like the DFL-210 but I see the DFL-260 can do Dynamic Web content filtering which sounds much better but not sure if the cost is feasable for our office.
Does anyone have experience with either the DFL-210 or 260 and have recommendations?
Also wondering how the log works for the override feature on the 260. Is it logged by user, mac address, ip address, etc and it there alerts to know there are new entries in the log somehow?
Thanks for anyones input.

From latest Firmware release dfl 210 supports web content filtering, at less performance than dfl 260 which have a hardware accelerator for this functions , i suppose but i have tried dfl210 at 20 mbit/s without problem
Keep in mind web content filtering its a subscription service whit annual fee
The web content filtering function works well and may be combined blocking unwanted extensions for files and blacklisting domains to give a solution for your problem.
LOgs are extensive if you want you can log every block or allow action, remember dfl 210 supports snmp and syslog, to better monitoring and storing logs.
dfl series allows too, to restrict and balance bandwidth to better quality of service.
get time to configure it, is not easy at all but will give you great results at favorable price

Thanks for the reply.
I did end up purchasing the DFL-210. I did the firmware update and now the webcontent filtering is there.
It does not work though. I am guessing it is because the license is not active. I called D-Link but they say the DFL-260 subsription does not work for the 210 and they have not released the 210 one yet. They are going to try to provide me with a ETA date for the DFL-210 WCF license.
Does anyone know if you can get the DFL-210 to block anything either static or dynamic until they release this? This was the main purpose for this device. Does anyone know if D-Link will give a 3 month trial subscription to get started?
Thanks

In case of using DFL as filter can be just one recomendation - use proxy in transparent mode :p DFL (both - with and without AVC) can make just simple filtering - strip some classes of content (like flash or activeX), deny by content-type and/or size and/or URL. If you want more (including good AV checking) - use PC.

register your dfl 210 at http://security.dlink.com.tw and you will get the 3 month trial ,from december i have mine running and fine
open the link with mozilla firefox works better
you can obtain a 3 month trial for IDP signature too
be sure of update firmware before your trial expires, otherwise after firmaware upgrades you will see the signatures has gone.
You can complement Dfl Web content filtering using http://www.opendns.com free service

It is good to know you have yours working. I have registered my unit and have been to where your link took me but I do not see anywhere to download the trial for WCF. I was able to activate the trial for IDP.
Thanks for your help and I will keep working on it since I know you have had success.
