Title: Cannot access drive
Post by: mhilsdon on January 05, 2010, 11:11:15 AM
My DNS-321 had been running fine, but yesterday I uploaded the firmware to 1.3 and also added a second drive - I realize now I shouldn't have done both things at the same time as I now have no idea if one of those actions has caused my problem. The unit now keeps disappearing from my network, it doesn't show in Explorer and the Easy Search Utility doesn't find it, then after a lengthy period it just reappears - sometimes rebooting the PC and the DNS-321 will bring it back, but not always. Any suggestions would be welcome. :-\

First step, reset to factory defaults and reconfigure.  When upgrading firmware, it's usually a good idea to do that.

I've done what you suggested and so far so good, it's remained accessible - I'll let you know tomorrow if that's still the case. I've created another problem for myself though while reconfiguring it, I gave it a different name (actually the Dlink default name) so I now see two network DNS-321's, any idea how to delete the one I don't want? I tried right clicking but delete isn't an option. Thanks for your help.

Have patience, the bogus one will disappear.  Windows has a long memory for stuff that has disappeared off the network. :D
