I sure wish I would have read these forums BEFORE making the mistake of updating my router's firmware. It just never occurred to me that a company would release such broken software, AND provide no way to revert back to the original version. I would be very happy if I could just revert to the v1.02 it came with.
Firmware version 1.21NA has ruined my once reliable router. I can see from reading the forums that there is no need for me to ask for support. The problems I am experiencing are already well reported/documented. The fact that these problems are still being reported after all this time (last firmware update nearly 6 months ago???) is a clear indication that fixing them is not a priority for D-Link.
I hate throwing perfectly good hardware in the trash, but the wasted time and frustration of dealing with it is costing me a lot more than the price of a new router. Not sure what brand I'll be purchasing, but I have a good idea what it won't be. :-[

Send you a PM. Care to let me help you? Let me know.

Do two things before you trash it. First call dlink tech support and go to the bbb and file a complaint about what has happened with the fw. It won't take long for you to get a response.

incredulous, any status on those ideas I mentioned to you? Hope it has helped. Let us know.

I've called Dlink many times about this very issue and everytime I get told it has to do with my hardware and it's not the routers fault... I'm NEVER buying a Dlink product again (for myself or my company) and will switch back to Linksys. I'm not sure why I switched from Linksys to begin with.
The one forum member that was nice enough to PM the Original Poster, if you wouldn't mind PM'ing me too, I'm willing to give it one last shot before I bail on this company forever. Might as well make a last ditch effort to 'save' something that cost me almost $200 at the time of purchase.

I have the same problems no matter what settings you put in for logging. :(

Thanks to FurryNutz for the help with this problem via PM. Has only been a couple days, but so far so good with the "beta" firmware.
D-Link really ought to remove that broken firmware 1.21NA from their download site.

Yaaaaaaaay ;D ::) :o ;)

FurryNutz can you pm me the link..I would like to try the beta as well.

MCR, load up the FW update and do a factory reset after wards. Let the unit run with default settings for a while. If you need wireless, go ahead and enable it for G mode only at 2.4Ghz with some security. If this seems to work well for you then you can leave it as is or start tweaking to you needs and setting up N mode wireless and such.
I'm currently running A1 HW, FW beta 03, WiFi N mode only, Firewall, Gaming and Gamefuel and DNS Relay are enabled. WISH, WiFi Protected Setup and Dynamic Fragmentation is DISABLED. Unit is stable.
Check out my settings here:

Tired of messing around with D-Link and all the broken promises? Want to roll your
dgl-4500 firmware back to 1.15 right now? The two links below have the fix. This
is not a joke. It works. Both sites are very reputable and people have tested it.

and

Follow the simple instructions and tell d-link where to stuff it.
Christmas was a little late this year but better late than never!
