I followed the basic quick start and it will not "pop up" with the option to configure the hard drives when I log into the DNS-323.
I tried everything, read their manual on the CD, searched the knowledge base and FAQ, restarted the device from it's web link, and even reset it (not that there was anything to reset!) Tried different browser vs. launching browser with IP address from the easy search CD, etc.
The area under "Tools" and "RAID" is all blanked out, cannot click or manage anything.
Help? I can't believe nobody else has this problem for their FAQ? The unit has two 1TB WD SATA drives in it. My next step will be to disconnect everything, put drives back in and start over but I can't imagine that's the issue? If it is, it would be nice if it said "no drive detected" or something....
Thanks!!!

Do you see the HDs lights (in front of the device) lighted on? Perhaps the HDs are not well connected?
I installed my new DNS-323 yesterday and it detected the new HDs perfectly.

Chemi, Thanks. I don't know if they were on - I just took them out (had to use eject levers, all seemed well) - put them back in and all lights on - went directly to IP address page and automatically asking for configuration. Yay! Thanks for that tip.
I chose RAID 1 because I'm mostly concerned with household data/photo safety. Should I enable auto reconfiguration? (I think that was what it was called.) It defaulted to "no".
Thanks!

RAID of any level is NOT backup. You need to consider a real backup.
