Title: dir 655 as access point
Post by: nr on January 09, 2010, 05:48:26 PM
cable modem to dgl 4100 to dir 655 as access point. Set static ip, disabled DHCP, auto channel mode. Unable to see the SSID from the laptop. Status in dir 655 show init fail.

Any help?

Made some progress - on DIR 655 chose WEP and Wireless G (since I done have any N adapters). After that the status screen on DIR 655 shows the SSID broadcasting at 20 Mhz on Channel 1.  However, now I go to the laptop to try and connect I dont this SSID. BTW, I have WPS disabled.

Hopefully this is more information than what I had previously posted to help me solve this issue.

Thanks

Have you manually set channel width to 20?

If not do that and turn off auto channel scan then try setting it to different numbers.

Had to change to mixed n/g/b mode to manually set the channel width. Did that and played around with few channels.  Wireless comes up and restarts. However other Rj45's at the back of the DIR 655 comes up and I the devices connected by hard wire ethernet do work.  Capture for the status/log is appended below

Any help:

1) tried different channels
2) I also have DI-524 that is working as an access point in the second floor.

If these additional inputs will help to give me any clue. BTW is there any restriction on the # of access points we can have?

Thanks

One additional input is I just cannot see the SSID after the wireless restart
