Title: DNS-323 Storage and "drive" letters...
Post by: WillyK on January 09, 2010, 08:05:14 PM
Excuse what might be a foolishly simple question.

My intention is to drop two equivalent HDD into my DNS-323 and run a RAID 1 setup.  I understand that if I drop two 1 TB drives in, I effectively get only 1 TB available storage (because of the mirroring).

But when I go to configure my DNS-323 I get the impression that the storage "maps" to a single drive letter.  In other words, my available storage capacity of 1 TB would be mapped as a single volume.  I cannot "partition" my drive as I would an internal HDD into various volumes.  Is this correct?

Yes, you're right.
The raid is one drive only but you can use the menu to create different folders as shares and map them with different drive letters.
