Title: Firmware - to update or not to update?
Post by: jonelli on January 12, 2010, 11:08:07 AM
People,
So, my DIR-655 wigged out recently, and I was able to get an RA/Replacement through DLINK.  I have read about all the various firmware issues you guys have found, so my question:

The replacement unit just arrived.  It is labeled H/W: A3 and F/W: 1.10

Thats what my original HW/FW all along till it broke.  Should I leave the new one as-is?  Or should I mess with any firmware updates?  I am not doing gaming.  I have a PS3, but do not play online games.
I host a webserver, email server, and do some bittorrenting, but thats it.

Recommendations?

If you're not having problems, I wouldn't touch it.

If you do see an issue fixed in 1.2x, at least you can try it and go back.  But I wouldn't suggest 1.3x just yet if you need maximum uptime.  It's too flakey.

My 2 cents.

BUMP.

Anyone else have anything to add concerning the firmware update dilemma?

NOOOOOOOOOO

Well not yet at least !!

Your chances of being unhappy with your decision is seemingly far too high so far.

Wait and let others fight thru this who already made that choice to move up to 1.3X

Just my 2 cents...

If you had to open a thread like this, I think the answer is pretty obvious.
