Title: DFL-2500 memory usage
Post by: mackop on January 13, 2010, 10:00:29 AM
Is it normal to have memory usage RAM: 471 of 504 MB all the time?

That would depend on your load and configuration.  Particularly troublesome is large DHCP pools.

I have no DHCP configured. Load is between 200 and 3000 concurrent connections, but I thnik that there is not any noticeable memory usage variation. CPU Load is between 0 and 3%.

hmm, well I would take a look at your static load with no connections if you might ever get a chance, and I would look for any surplus amount of objects or complex configurations you may have implemented.  The skill with which you craft your configuration is the largest factor in memory usage.

I don't have any quick answers other than the DHCP pool guess.

I have noted the amount of memory use on my dfl-210 its increasing if i use features like AntiVirus, Web filtering, ALG´s, IDP rules (specially if use a lot of Signatures on them).

I make special mention to IDP rules, i had a experience of configuration not aplying because too many signatures loaded, and firewall crashing whit a use of 98 % of ram aprox
