Title: DGL-4500 will not accept changes
Post by: surferb on January 15, 2010, 06:35:16 PM
Firmware: 1.13,  2008/09/26

My router functions well. I have gamefuel enabled with QoS set on a few of my nodes, wireless disabled, and am spoofing a MAC address (required for my setup).

Some buttons on the router config page work - like releasing my IP address. However, any changes that I try that would have to write to the configuration do not work. I tried: editing my gamefuel settings, enabling wireless, changing my password, etc, etc. I've been through the motion of upgrading the firmware, but I don't think it took effect. The router continues to preserve settings between a power cycle.

Dare I do a factory hard reset? Has anyone else experienced this?

It will also kick me back to the logon screen before allowing me to make changes. For example, under "gaming" I try to add a gaming rule (the step before clicking "save") and it sits, then reloads the user authentication screen. I've tried with IE and Firefox and have security settings turned town.

Are you waiting for the configuration page to fully load before clicking on anything?

Do you have NoScript, AdBlock Plus, or other Add-ons installed in Firefox?

I presume that your making changes to the each page in a fairly timely manor as this router will auto log you off after a short period of time. I'm not sure the exact time out however I thinks it's set for 5-10 mins if no activity, it will sign off. I would also try Flock browser to see if that is doing the same thing. Sounds like of 2 are doing it, something in the FW possibly.

What browser are you using?  I'm a mac user and I have to use Firefox in order to log in to the router and to make changes in the configuration.

surferb, I would also check the settings in the browser that our using and make sure its allowing or not blocking any thing from the router or not allowing the router to set a cookie. If the routers web page can set a cookie then the browser will in effect time out and possibly not set up the routers web page properly. Let us know how it goes. Hope all this info will help you.

FurryNutz, the configuration page doesn't require cookies.

I use Safari and Flock on my MacBook Pro

I can't use SAFARI from either mac.  If I do, I have to type my password several times before it's accepted.  Also, some pages will not accept changes when using safari.

Try using FireFox.  It seems to work better than Safari.

I have noticed that typing in the password recently has not been accepted by the router/browser. Especially typing in the characters and hitting ENTER on the keyboard. Typing in the characters then clicking the mouse on Login button seems to work better. I believe that the ENTER button should be investigated by DLink to see if they could fix this.

I am having the same issue

I am using win XP and IE8 for the browser

I have done a "hard reset" and the issue went away (I could save again), after making 10-15 changes it has started the same issue (will not save an new changes)

it's like the "memory is full" of the saved changes I made, and it wont take anymore changes...

someone please help...

(I noticed the "re-boot the router" splash screen has disappeared when this happens, when that screen popped up the router saved the changes made)

What happens when you disable all Logging? Then do a reset?

Have you checked out the new FW? Its running great on my A1. Just played 3 hours of xbox live.

I fixed mine with a hard RESET using the reset button on the back of the unit.  Once I did that it let me install new firmware, and make changes, etc...so try that.
