Title: Problems With Xbox 360 When ADDING GAMING RULE
Post by: BiggShooter on January 16, 2010, 11:29:56 AM
I recently replaced my Linksys WRT54GS router with the DLINK DLG-4500 router (connected to Motorola SB6120 Cable Modem).  I followed the directions provided in this forum regarding the settings for both GAMING and GAMEFUEL.  I use STATIC IP addresses for all my home networking devices.  I have two XBOX 360's in my home.  One is connected directly to the modem and the other is connected wirelessly using the Microsoft Wireless N Networking Adapter.

I assigned the Xbox 360 (wired to router) with an IP address of 192.xxx.x.120.
I assinged the Xbox 360 (wireless) with an IP address of 192.xxx.x.121.

I was able to connect to Xbox Live with the Xbox 360 (wireless) with an open NAT however, I wasn't able to connect to Xbox Live with the Xbox 360 (wired).  When running a test (XBOX 360 - wired), it would start to show a green line (progress connection bar) and then display a RED X throught the XBOX LIVE connection (progress bar).  After a few hours of troubleshooting, I determined that if I DISABLED / HAD NO GAMING RULES (ADVANCED/GAMING), the Xbox 360 (wired) would connect to XBOX LIVE with an open NAT.

It seems that when I input the IP address (and other required info) of my Xbox 360 (wired) in the ADVANCED/GAMING and ADD GAMING RULE, it blocks the connection of my XBOX 360 to XBOX LIVE.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing / has experienced this problem.  Any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this issue??

Thanks for the replies in advance  :)
