Title: wan port will not operate at any higher than 10mbps
Post by: ryan200 on January 17, 2010, 10:29:50 PM
well right now i am using the newest firmware but it has been the same with older firmware versions for some reason this router will not negotiate any higher than 10mbps on the wan port. if i force it to 100 it will not communicate with the modem. it works fine with a linksys router at 100mbps why does it not work correctlly with this router?

what would you do?

update:

if i put a switch between my modem and router i get 100mbps connection from both the modem and wan port, but with the modem direct to the wan port the modem page http://192.168.100.1 says 10mbps which i can also confirm with results from speedtest.net

You might want to experiment a bit with auto and manual WAN speed settings on both devices. These are known issues with many devices and NICS.

thanks for replying i did try forcing it to 100mbps, problem was it would not communicate with the modem.

i cant change any settings on my modem its only a info page.

the modem i have is arris touchstone TM502G it was provided by the cable company, i use its intergated voip.

have you encountered this problem where you could not force it to 100 and have it actually communicate?

Maybe it is to easy but did you try to change the cable between modem and router ?
Take at least a Cat 5e cable even if you only expect 100MBps.
