Post by: usmarine0622 on January 19, 2010, 11:16:46 AM
I'm thinking about buying on of these, i have a DNS 323 with 2tb space on it i use for home backup and work stuff, but it's almost full. What is the max hd space this thing can support? I was thinking about add 4 2tb wd hard drives.

The DNS-343 supports up to 2TB HDDs (2TB x 4HDDs = 8TB Total)

p.s. those are raw numbers not usable #'s, you will get closer to 6TB usable i recall

That's not necessarily true.  The actual amount of usable space is dependent on how the HDDs are configured (i.e. standard volumes, JBOD, RAID 1, etc. . . )

to clarify, i was assuming he meant RAID 5, which would yield about 5.6 TB..
