Title: DIR 825 Wired 360 Issue
Post by: Doos on January 21, 2010, 10:16:43 AM
So, I'm sure this has been covered, but a search yielded nothing for a wired connection.

I have version A1. Firmware is still a 1.01.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but my girlfriend and I have consistent hosting problems.

Things I've checked:

Our ISP is Rogers. We have a very steady 10mbps Dl and 1mbps Ul.
Tried Static IP/Port Forwarding. No good.
Tried DMZ. No good.

Hooking the Xbox straight into the modem seems to yield positive results therefore I'm speculating that the router may be clogging down the signal somewhere.

Our signal hasn't dropped in 44+ days and that only because I was rebooting. I rarely have any troubles with it disconnecting.

I only mention this because I've seen a lot of posts regarding the router rebooting on it's own etc. and this isn't the problem we're having.

Basically, our problem is that when MW2 picks us as the host, everyone gets terrible lag.

Anyone have any ideas where to start the troubleshooting with the router?

Thanks very much in advance..

Doos.

check the routers QoS settings. If enabled, disable it and see what happens.

I've had no issues so far.  To be honest since I bought this router I grab host about 90% of the time.

After some more trial and error setting adjustments, I managed to get a solid 'host' connection placing the Xbox into a DMZ. Which I thought I had tried before, but it may have been using my previous router.

Thanks folks.
