Hello,
I would like to know if the windows & tweaks from this page enabled, specifically , netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=enabled, netsh int tcp set global dca=enabled
, and netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcp
At the moment I have the following settings:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Users\u3912974>netsh int tcp show global
Querying active state...
TCP Global Parameters
----------------------------------------------
Receive-Side Scaling State : enabled
Chimney Offload State : automatic
NetDMA State : enabled
Direct Cache Acess (DCA) : disabled
Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level : normal
Add-On Congestion Control Provider : none
ECN Capability : disabled
RFC 1323 Timestamps : disabled
I tried enabling each one and noticed nothing. Am I supposed to reboot the pc or router? My router is the dlink dir-655 and I have an HP m8000n PC. I'm not having any problems nor looking for them. I can't find any specific info online about Comcast and these settings.
If they don't help, do you know if there are any plans for Comcast to implement them? I ask because I read this article:
http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=2574
The info is not ISP specific. I ask because I know that I asked about ECN two years ago. It was in the plans back then. I ask also because I want to have the perfect optimal settings. If there is anything out of all of those tips (because there are others on that page) that is helpful for me or anyone in this forum, then please advise.
Many thanks...

Microsoft has a website to test the features of the router and they all pass. All those features are supported by the router, but generally speaking, it's more-so geared towards LAN traffic and all operating systems and networking hardware MUST support it to take advantage of it and I believe windows 7 is the only one that does. I tried enabling these features but didn't notice any difference for better or for worse, but then again, my lan traffic isn't heavy.

Vista and Windows 7 are already optimized for broadband so any "tweaks" are not really necessary.
