Title: DNS-323 file system on OS X?
Post by: superfly on January 25, 2010, 09:28:32 AM
Hello,

I have a DNS-323 which completely messed up. Long story short, i need to know if there is a program that can read the file system on a mac. I will be using a sata to usb adapter to check my drives. I have info that i can not lose!

Thanks for any help

You'll need a Linux system, you can use a Linux Live Boot CD to read the files.

I always thought that Apples' recent MacOSs were based on BSD and could read ext2 natively - have I been mistaken?

Aren't most linux live CDs Intel oriented?

Possibly, I am not a Mac man.  I do know they're Unix based, just don't know if they understand EXT2/3 filesystems.  Since I found an installable EXT2 filesystem for the Mac, I'm guessing it's not native.  I would have posted a link, but all the comments were that it didn't work! :)

Ubuntu Live-CD or Ubuntu on Virtualbox it's the way!
