Title: Compatibility: HDD WD15EARS Caviar Green...
Post by: slabtgm on January 25, 2010, 05:55:26 PM
Hi,

I need to know if the Western Digital WD15EARS Caviar Green 1.5TB SATA (64MB Cache) will work on my DNS-323 ?   With firmware 1.07 or 1.08 ?

Thanks,

With the current 1.08b8, I'm 99.99% sure it'll work fine. :)  Nothing is ever 100%. :D

Confirmed with 1.07, I have 2 of them and no issues.  Just installed 1.08b8 and also working.

Thanks guys,

I think it's a good choice for backup files but, do you know if it's enough fast for played video (transfert rate)?

No problems for me, have two of those, upgraded from 1.07 to 1.08b8.

My entire video library is on my NAS, working very well in MCE. Conected via DIR 655 with cat6 cable. Running smoothly, tried MKV, AVI, MP4 etc. Even works with MCE extender (xbox 360).

I am using them too.  No problems with multimedia at all.

DNS-323 can it work with the new 4K sectors of this hard disk instead of the 512 byte sectors?
