I hope this is not too dumb a question to ask:
I will be upgrading my two current XP machines to window 7. Right now--all is working fine with the laptop connected wirelessly and my desktop via cable from the dir-655.
What do I need to do to assure a smooth transition with this router?
Do I need to reinstall and if so---are there win7 drivers for this?
thx and peace

You need to do nothing. It works with Windows 7.
The router's functionality does not depend on the operating system.

Thx very much for your response. So---I just install windows 7 (clean install) and afterwords all should work as before without any updates or settings changes?
thx again

Yes, I have 6 Win7 (32 and 64 Bit) machines here running without the need to change any settings in the router.

The wired system, you just need to install and go. For the wireless, you need to know your security passphrase or you can use WPS (for more information on WPS try the DIR-655 FAQ) to access your secured wireless network if you're running your wireless network in any security mode.

The only thing you need to worry about is finding W7 drivers for the wireless adapter in the laptop and the Ethernet NIC in the desktop. Also, if you use the Shareport feature you will need to install this again on the computers.

peace to you!
