Title: Hitachi Deskstar 2TB
Post by: perfectdark on January 27, 2010, 03:38:39 PM
I have a Hitachi 1TB drive filled with music, movies, backup files etc. but mainly movies. I have just under 100gb left and I am looking to add another hard drive to the DNS for space.

Would this hard drive be compatible? also i have read some posts about people having Hitachi drives fail... "knock ono wood" I have Never had any hard drive fail, including my current Hitachi 1TB which has been abused 24/7 for over 1 year. But i dont want to spend $200 to lose data etc..

Hitachi Deskstar 2TB (2000GB) 3.5" SATAII 7200rpm 32MB (0F10311)

AFAIK, that drive should work fine.  I haven't had any more problem with Hitachi drives than other brands.  I can't say I've never seen a failed drive, I have a whole box of them in my closet.  Obviously, not all from my systems, but I've seen a few die here. :)
