Title: Dir-655 is interupting my internet (Wired)
Post by: Group B on January 28, 2010, 11:06:25 AM
Hi , I got a problem with my dir-655 its on firmware 1.32NA, I try during a week to fix the problem but I cant manage to get it to work. Stange thing happend the dir-655 is just dropping my connection randomly and very often to the point where I replace it with an old DI-704up and with the 704 everything work .. except I loss my wireless with this model and I need the wireless for my second computer.

With the dir-655 the problem is my internet for interupt ramdomly when I use ventrillo or MMO (warhammer) I got disconect its like everything disconnect and 2 sec later everything reconnect and this thing happend very often, maybe 5-6 time by hour. That mean that the game server closed your connecting and a full group of people is cursing at you because you were the healer . The computer that drop the connection  is the one on the wired side of the router , the wireless side is for surfing the internet with the second pc and I dont know if this one disconnect also because when surfing  you dont need a constant connection anyway.

My router is blocking a lot of chinese ip and I was thinking maybe that the problem .. something like too much thing to block or to log so I disable the log but the problem is still hapening. I tried many settting all with the same result .. dropping connection every 10 minute sometime more often.

I need help I buy this top of the line router because I need more power on the wireless side but I start to regret it

Mine was doing the same thing and I can offer a few solutions. First I would flash the 1.33 firmware. After the flash is done and your router is on 1.33 firmware. With the router on push the reset button for 30 seconds, then unplug it with the reset button still push in and wait 30 seconds, then plug the power back in with the reset pushed in still and wait another 30 seconds. Release the reset button and go into the router and under tools select reset factory default. Then configure as necessary. If you still have problems check out the thread about downgrading. I've had luck with firmwares 1.10, 1.11, and 1.21 no securespot.
