Title: Dir-655 and Xbox 360 issue
Post by: Mi1o on February 10, 2010, 02:05:10 PM
I have 2 xbox 360's that connect wireless to my DIR-655 in my household. The issue is that if one 360 is already connected to xbox live, then the other 360 is blocked from connecting to xbox live.  I can run a test with the xbox to see that xbox is connecting to the DIR-655 with no problems, however it fails to connect to the xbox service.
My only solution has been to reboot the router. Only then can I get the 2nd 360 to join onto xbox live. ???

I never had this problem with my previous wireless router. Unfortunately it died and i'm no longer a fan of Linksys.

Any suggestions?  I'm open to it?

Try setting both with static IPs.

we have three 360's here with zero issues being on at the same time...  you should be able to do this...

As cobra said set IP reservations in the dir-655 setups based on xbox MAC code....

save and reboot router.

power off xboxes then back on

Like they said - Static DHCP by MAC address of the Xbox and if the problems persist, put the non-working Xbox in the 655's DMZ.

DMZ setting.

I had this problem to with 1.10 firmware and when I updated to 1.32na, no more problem.

Both xboxs have to use UPnP though so make sure its on and make sure both xboxs have satic ips like already stated.

Hi,

I used to have PnP enabled....but recently I disabled it, even before I moved to 1.33NA with no ill effects.

I think the important thing for the 360's is to DHCP reserve by MAC each 360, and then in the 360's Network setups set it to automatic.  I also have DNS relay enabled so I even set the DNS setting on the 360 to automatic and it picked up the DIR as the gateway.

I don't think I have anything else set special for the xbox's here and they all have easy access....

Thank you all for the replies on trouble shooting this 360 issue.  I'll be sure to try static IP setting as everyone suggested when I get home tonight.  I'll keep you posted.  Thanks again!!!
