Title: Upgrading
Post by: JimboCol on February 11, 2010, 01:23:13 PM
I'm looking at a DIR-625.  I currently have a DIR-615 Rev A and can not get 300Mbps unless I have it as an unsecured setup.  That of course will never do. I looked in the forum, and seen messages about firmware upgrades, but if I'm reading the messages correctly, they are Rev specific i.e. I have Rev A and my firmware is 1.10, rev B and C are 2.x

At any rate, back to the reason for this post.  Does anyone have any good advise for me? I have a DWA-652 Xtreme Notebook adapter, three other laptops with with 11g, 1 with a Belkin PCMI Adapter, one built into a Toshiba Satellite, and one built into a Thinkpad T43P.  I just upgraded the 652 drivers to the absolute newest in preparation for a secured 300Mbps connection.  Since the 615 is not capable of this, I want to upgrade.  Is there any special Rev I need to know about?  The firmware is no problem, I can just download it and flash the router.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Jim.

270Mps or greater access speeds require at least WPA / WPA2 security with AES encryption.

I would not look at the DIR-625 router as it is "end of line" (no longer being developed) since it is replaced with the DIR-628 model.
