Title: HTC Sync Access
Post by: dmennenoh on February 16, 2010, 08:32:17 AM
Sorry if this has been asked, but I didn't find much searching. In trying to sync our new Droid Eris phones am getting the message "Firewall application must also be set to allow HTC Sync access" - what must I do to enable this?

Seems your HTC sync acess is a program on your computer.

Of course it's a program... thanks for that. The problem is it's being blocked by the routers firewall. Was hoping someone here knew how to enable it. I'm sure I'll figure it out, was just thinking someone else already had.

Why should the router block a program running in an internal computer ?
I think the firewall software (or win firewall) is blocking that program.

I concur about the computer's firewall being the blocking agent here....not the router.

If you install a software firewall such as Zone Alarm, or Online Armor (both have free versions for personal use) you can likely work thru it pretty easily.....as well as a number of other firewall programs.....

Windows also has its own built-in firewall, tho XP's is only one way.....google about how to work with it if you need more help...tons of articles out there....

I have an HTC PURE (windows Mobile 6.5 based, not android) fone and had no problems synching up to my computer....just had to install the MS ActiveSync utility...
