Title: Extend range DIR 655
Post by: drmanny on February 16, 2010, 02:59:44 PM
I have a dir655 with 1.33NA. I have a room which is about 50 feet away from router, so signal is weak.
i have a ethernet cable going to that room, to which i want to user either DIR 615 or DIR 624 as a access point.
will DIR 615 act as a better access  point for DIR 655 wireless network, will it access at N speed or can i use DIR 624 and will it access at N speeds.

what settings do i need to make either DIR 615 or DIR 624 as access point for dir 655 wireless network

any help is appreciated
Manny

Hi,

You might also wanna look at a Powerline (HomePlug) extension kit.  The newest ones are rated around 270 Mbps give or take a little....  I use older ones for my Xbox 360's and it works fine....

I'm using a DAP-1522 (in AP mode) to extend my DIR-655 network.  It works very well, although I think there a few firmware issues that need to be resolved to prevent the unit from locking up after a few days or so.
