I have a desktop and laptop computer. Both are running Windows 7 Ultimate. When I installed the DNS321 on my Lan, it showed up as an unknown device in the desktop device list. I was then able to install the pnpx driver and it shows as a disk dirve in the device list.
On the laptop, however, the 321 does not show in the device list (on both computers). I also have a DNS323 which does show in that computer's device list. Any idea why I am not seeing the 321? Any way to install the pnpx driver other than from the device list?

FWIW, I can't imagine why you need this driver at all. I've never installed it on any machine, and all of my computers from XP through Win7 see the DNS-321 just fine.

Of course, it is not needed. Just with it present the drive shows up in your normal computer drive list without having to browse your network connections. A nice convenience.

Actually, you can map a drive using normal Windows facilities and have it show up as a drive letter, still no driver required. :)

I do appreciate all of your responses, even if they completely miss the point. I am not asking how to use this drive, I am asking if any one knows why it should not show up in the devices list.

I guess my point is, it's not any D-Link driver that is allowing the NAS to be seen. I suspect you're looking in the wrong place.

Of course you are right. It is Windows that is somehow treating the drive differently on the two computers.
However as to looking in the wrong place--What better place than where there are people using the device?
But I guess no one is interested in this topic so I will drop it.
