Title: UK Firmware
Post by: Static_Nexus on February 07, 2008, 11:51:13 AM
Hi everyone!

I have a question about the firmware for the UK DIR-655, im really confused about it. the US have V1.11 available and the rest of EU has the 1.11EU available but the UK site lists the 1.03 as the latest?

Will the 1.11EU work with the UK router or do they use completely different firmware? Would it mess up the router?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

really? i thought flashing the US one on the UK router was supposed to brick it and void the warranty?

Yes it would void the warranty

No, it wouldn't necessarily brick it, but you're taking a chance it will damage it as it may be using different processors...etc

ok, so does the EU FW work with the UK release? and will that void the warranty as well?

1.  It may work with it...it may not, I don't know.

2.  It probably will void the warranty.

Why not e-mail support@dlink.co.uk and ask to be sure.

Neither have I after I spoke to them last week about the UK firmware.  Not even had an answer back about the EU version yet either?

I think your UK router will work perfectly with the EU firmware, and if it doesn't, it may have some problems, but you may be able to flash it again with the UK firmware, so there's no problem.
Also, the warranty only voids if your router gets bricked with an unsupported firmware installed. If you flash it back with the UK firmware, you will still have your warranty (at least I was told that when asking about the 1.11 b39 firmware in this forum)

Just a follow up to say the EU firmware is working fine, it's improved the wireless performance greatly.  I've downloaded the UK 1.03 firmware in case I get a problem and have to restore it to ship back to Dlink UK.  I'll reflash it when UK finally give us the latest firmware!
