Please help.............
I have a DNS-321 that is about a year old. I have upgraded the firmware back when I bought it to use (2) 1.5 TB drives in it.
It was working great the other day, both volumes, all files.
I unplugged the unit while it was on (just pulled the plug from the wall).
I then went to plug the ethernet cable into a router and now i'm having all kinds of trouble.
If I wait long enough, my router will assign the NAS an IP address I can then ping the IP address.
But for the life of me, I can not access the web page. I have reset my router, powered off the NAS, reset the NAS and rebooted my computer several times.
Any suggestions?
I have A LOT of data on here that I would really like to not lose
I have tried easy search and no luck.
the DHCP client table in my router shows (NAS2) and the IP address with MAC address.
On antoher note, I moved my other identical DNS-321 at the same time and plugged it into the same router in the above mentioned way and it worked okay, so I don't know what else to try.
Thanks.

Did you do a factory reset of the unit?
If you are worried about the data and you can't revive it, you may be able to move the disks to your other DNS-321 and recover the data. If you do that, I'd remove the disks from the working unit, do a factory reset of it, then put the disks from the bad unit in it. Repeat the process for putting the original disks back in the working unit.

What is the proper way to do a factory reset on the unit? I see the reset button on the back... but with power on or power off? how long do I press the reset button?
When I move HDD's from one DNS-321 to the next, will it try to format my drives and I lose data? That's what worries me the most.
Thanks.

You press the reset button with power on. I believe a short reset is sufficient on these units.

What about swapping the drives in to my other DNS 321? Can I bypass the formatting since they have already been formatted by a NAS?

You can certainly bypass the formatting, that's the whole object of the exercise!
