Title: DIR 655 printing issue
Post by: gloquin on February 25, 2010, 12:23:32 PM
I have a DIR 655 with a wired connection to a desktop running Windows XP, and laptops connected wirelessly (one XP and one Vista).  I have 2 printers with wired connections to the desktop (1 USB and 1 parallel port).  Printing from the laptops has worked for over 1 year.  Recently, if I hit "print"  on either laptop the printer does not actually print until I restart the desktop.  There are no problems with printing from the desktop.  Any ideas?

Thanks.

Thanks for the response, but I did not understand.  I'd be grateful if I could get some clarification.

Sorry...was in a hurry when I was typing that.....

It was a list of things to check on all the systems.... especially the firewall program(s)....they are known to wreak havoc in networking....

Workgroup name needs ot exactly match.... HOME is not equal to HoMe

LAN IP Subnet needs to exactly match...usually this is lesser of an issue because the default of 255.255.255.0 is prety standard.

I would suggest you set up DHCP reservations in the DIR setups....  This is so there is no confusion incase the LAN IP changes if you reboot the router and the systems reconnect out of sequence from how they were before...  In a perfect world, the LAN IP changing shouldn't matter, but this being windows, it can easily induce issues....
