Title: Wireless dropping out but wired is fine.
Post by: ruffus910 on February 25, 2010, 06:42:53 PM
So, I have had this router for about 2 months. One day about a week ago, I came home to find the settings on the router had reset (nobody was home at the time). I redid all the settings no problem, but ever since, the wireless has been acting funky. While on wireless, the signal slows down and drops out (the bars dont move all that much, but it seems the connection doesnt carry any data) occasionally. This is severe enough to where torrenting and instant messaging is completely unusable, and simple activities like checking email and facebook take excruciatingly long.

But when Im hooked up by wire to the router, everything is fine.

Any help on this would be appreciated. Do I need to update the firmware (1.13)? Im not sure what to do, and I REALLLLLY dont want to have to buy a new router.

Thanks in advance.

Replace the router's logon password first.  Someone might be able to reset the router from somewhere else.

It was not the default password. I find it hard to believe that someone managed to crack my password so quickly. Ive changed it all the same. Now what.

Wireless WPA security should be enabled.

What firmware level?
