Ok, I currently have an old D-Link wireless router for 4 wired and 2 wireless computers.. My question is this: The computer I put the old software on is in the basement on my sons desktop where the modem is..I wanted to know if I can install the software on my wireless laptop so I can control the parental controls from my room where I use the wireless...My main reason is because I need to use the parental controls to set time limits on the internet..

Just login through webinterface then you can control your DIR-655

Hi,
You use the MAC code for the new pc to identify it......using the access controls to set up the blocking. set up a schedule for the access control policy to use...
I believe you must use the DNS relay setting to use the access control policy and schedule.... At least you must use DNA relay for website filtering to work...

Thanks..I also forgot to say that Im installing the new DIR-655 and removing an older DLINK router so the question is can I install the new software and router on MY wireless notebook or does it have to be installed on the same (my sons wired) computer as the old router..Sorry, im not an advanced user..lol

The DIR-655 can be managed via it's IP number. Default 192.168.0.1 and this can be directly entered in your web brouwser like Internet Explorer/Firefox etc.
No need to install specific software on the laptop or desktop. The router itself contains the sofware.
