Title: Firefly initializing database, please wait.
Post by: Egoist on March 05, 2010, 11:50:30 PM
Just upgraded to F/W 1.08, Firefly gives me the above message.  It's been saying it for almost three hours now.

Ditto. The same issue. I installed the firefly addon and have removed it.

same for thing for me. Running Mac OS 10.5.8 and using Safari to access my 323, I get a dialog box that says "Initializing Firefly database. Please wait."

I click ok and the page just refreshes. My 323's library does not appear in iTune's shared libraries.

I have a 300GB library; it took quite some time but it did eventually finish and works for me fine.

abellofi, did you just let it sit on the error message and it eventually went away? I also have a large music library so my be in the same situation.

Yup.  Then I emailed support twice also.  The first time I was given a thank you note for my interest in Dlink products and was referred to sales.  The second time I never received a response.  I'm about to go Office Space on this POS.

There are multiple posts about Amber, Pink or Orange Drive lights on the DNS-323, most of which do not draw any conclusions regarding what are the causes and what is the resolution.

When I launched Firefly, it caused my drives to turn-off while the Amber lights lit-up.  D-Link has to do a little bit more if they really intend to launch new functionality.  The way they have launched firmware 1.08 and the new add-on applications cannot be taken seriously.  Its a pity, because it is a promising NAS Box.

I let it remain there at the "please wait" message for a few hours; the whole time, the HD was chugging away as it scanned all the files.

I have a 130+ Gb library and it took, about a couple of hours but had no problems.

Have you tried just using a subdirectory with less files as just a test?

Oh yeah, I've spent two days on this Firefly database this time.  I have my music library organized into by iTunes so there are plenty of subdirectories.  And another thing, when I activate the UPnP AV server, it pauses at 31% while refreshing.  It's been that way for over a day.  D-Link has provided ZERO support for this product.  You'd think they would have personnel responding to issues on their forums.  Now to go find my receipt and head back to Fry's.

I should mention that the I have excluded my music directory from the UPnP server so that the only thing looking at it is FireFly.

BUMP. Still having the same issue, even in 1.09 - I left the dialog overnight...
