Hi!
I have a little problem and need some help.
When my desktop computer is off, why doesnīt the blue light on the router turning off?
It should do that, green enthernet? I am very sure that itīs something with the settings in the network card. Itīs something with "wake on lan/magic packet&directed" to do, shall these things be enabled or disabled?
plz help!

Turn the power supply on your PC off by unplugging it or with the switch on the back and see if the status changes. Even when the PC is off the auxiliary +5v supply is running. It's used for wake on lan and to power the PC up when you push the front panel button. It's not a big deal if that network led is on even if your PC is powered down. It's quit normal these days actually.

I can notice that when my computer is in "sleep mode" or "standby" whatever you call it, then the light is turned off which is very good, and which i want it to be even when the computer is off.
The lights are very annoying and i want to use the green enthernet=saving energy

You could try going into your PC's BIOS and disabling the WAKE ON LAN feature. Other than that I would just ignore it. The power its using when the PC is off is very little.

No, i tried and didnt get it done. I am very sure that it has to be something with the network card settings.

I'm no networking expert but I don't think it has anything to do with those network settings. If you are going to try changing things in there be sure to write down what they were before you changed them. That way if you do mess something up you can fix it.

It is likely what others have said above. Go into your BIOS (the manual for the PC or motherboard should say how to do this) and disable WOL (Wake-On-Lan) if you can. It may or may not work.
Both of my PCs here have dual LAN on them. One port is active all the time and the other one is only active when the PC is on. If you have dual LAN ports, try the other one.
I have a UPS with a power monitor on it. When my LAN is active but the computer is off, there's a difference of 1-2 watts. You would have a much bigger impact by replacing all of your old light bulbs with fluorescent bulbs, if you haven't done that already.
