Hi, I know there are a couple other threads out there on this issue, but I didn't want to hijack anyone's thread with my own problem. Mods, if you feel this thread needs to be merged with another then that's ok.
I recently purchased a refurbished DIR-655 from Best Buy, it's been running for about a week now. There are two laptops connected to it wirelessly and an Xbox 360 hardwired to the router. The Xbox performs perfectly in online multiplayer, no drops, no significant lag. The wireless connection on the laptops however is sketchy at best. The speed is not at all what I expected, and that wouldn't be too big of an issue, but the router keeps resetting the wifi so I have to constantly repair the connection through my PC.
I'm running an hp pavilion zv5000, Windows XP Professional, SP3, with Broadcom 54g MaxPerformance 802.11g network adapter. I don't know the specifics of my roommate's PC, its a Sony Viao with Windows 7.
Here's the router settings:

It seems like the connection gets dropped most often whenever there is a heavy load, IE: streaming music and downloading something simultaneously. How can I fix this issue and get a steady, fast wifi connections?
Thanks for your help

I was going to start my own thread on this same exact issue so I'll bump this instead.

Check out my thread. I updated my firmware to 1.33NA and I figured that was what fixed my wireless issues similar to yours, but could be a combination of things because I did turn off some settings like QoS and WISH as well as some other things. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem except worse (wireles turns off after a number of restarts). Do you have any Windows 7 computers? My issue just started after an upgrade. Maybe I'll try updating the firmware to the latest.

I too had this problem. Then I noticed the switching between wireless 802b and 802g connection ::) . I set the router to only do 802g and the laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-A517S) to only use 802g because it was faster than 802b.
I assume because the standard was flipping between b and g this caused the deauthorisation and disconnect. >:( The router was set to auto and so was the laptop on the standard 802. As they had to "see" each other through a brick wall and other signals were on the same channel (I scanned the channels to find a vacant one), there was drop-out of the connection.
All is now well. Well that is until I get any box that wants "n" standard.
I was able to view the syslog on a program from 3COM a freebie called 3CSylog and set the wired port IP number as the syslog server
