Title: Wireless N Bridge problem- DAP-1555
Post by: BrodyBoy on February 10, 2008, 03:47:59 PM
Looking for solutions- my DAP-1555 has stopped working in bridge mode.  Here's some background:

About 2-3 months ago, I added a DAP-1555 in bridge mode to provide a wireless connection for several ethernet-only media devices in an unwired part of the house. This set-up, on a 2.4Gz, 802.11N-only, WPA2/AES network from my DIR-655, worked great until two days ago.

I logged onto the DAP-1555 just to check its client table and make sure all the devices were still connecting properly (rather than going into each device and checking individually), and to check whether the firmware was still the latest (it was).  The only setting I changed was removing my admin password. After "Save Settings" and "Reboot Now," the DAP-1555 failed to come back online after the reboot.

I've tried everything I can think of (see below) but the DAP-1555 is now inaccessible/unconfigurable/unusable in Bridge mode.  Access Point mode still seems to work normally, but that's useless for my application.  Here's some more info:

SYMPTOMS (in Bridge mode unless otherwise noted)

WHAT I'VE TRIED

Any suggestions?  Is there something really obvious that I'm missing?  I'm at wits' end and I really need to get this thing online again, as several devices depend on the network connection.  I welcome ANY information or suggestions and thank you all in advance for any help.

To be honest it sounds like the unit is bricked.
Can you ping either the default IP or the IP you assinged?
How about directly connected to a PC?
Do the lights on the front of the unit display any erratic behavior?

Yeah, I've tried all that.  Can't ping or access the unit in any way when the switch is on Bridge mode.  Whether connected directly or not.  The lights do seem normal, but nothing else is.

Thanks for taking a minute to respond; I've concluded that it's bricked too. I've never had trouble with D-Link products, so haven't had to get warranty service, but I'm hoping they are responsive and replace it fairly quickly. We'll see....

Lycan,

Thanks so much for the generous offer, but I'm already in touch with D-Link and it looks good so far. I just hope this isn't some broader problem with the DAP-1555, as I really like the unit when it works.  I plan to replace it give it another chance.

Thanks again.
