Using a Linksys DDWRT, if the NAS is set to have a static IP, it can't access the internet but as a DHCP client, it works.
I also tried configuring the NAs to have an IP outside of the DHCP range and iput the MAC address and IP address of the NAS on the routers static IP clients. Still didn't work.
Can anyone help me?

Are you setting DNS server and gateway entries?

I don't recall doing anything of that sort. All I did was to enable the DHCP server of the router.

If you set the DNS-323 to use DHCP client, and the router is running a DHCP server, then the DNS-323 gets its IP, subnet mask and default gateway info from the router. The DNS servers must be manually entered.
Example:
Router has a static IP of 192.168.1.1 and has a DHCP server configure for the range 192.168.1.50 to 192.168.1.99
The DNS-323 is set to use the DHCP client, it will be assigned an address (first would be 192.168.1.50) and the subnet mask would be set to 255.255.255.0 and the gateway would be automatically set to 192.168.1.1 (the IP of the router), you would have to set the DNS servers to the proper values for your ISP.
If you set the DNS-323 to use a static IP, then you must manually configure the IP, subnet mask, DNS servers and default gateway.
Example:
Router has a static IP of 192.168.1.1
DNS-323 has a staic IP of 192.168.1.2, subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, gateway of 192.168.1.1 (the IP of your router), DNS1 and DNS2 have the IP addresses of the DNS servers of your ISP.
You should not have to set any routing tables/entries using these configurations (unless you have a very complex environment - which it sounds like you do not have).

FWIW, both my DNS-321 and DNS-323 are configured with static IP addresses, and they access the Internet just fine. If you properly configure the IP addresses it'll work.

Same here, I always use static IP addresses for all my wired systems and use DHCP only for my wireless clients (laptops).

I use static IP addresses for any server devices, network printers, NAS, Linux server, etc. I use DHCP for all the standard workstations, makes it easier to maintain the network. :)

My NAs used to work with a static IP and my router(Siemens) being the DHCP server.
But when I changed my router to linksys(DD-wrt firmware), the NAS couldn't access the net anymore unless I set it to DHCP client.
When set to have static IP, it automatically inputs the correct values for subnet mask, gateway and DNS1. But even with these parameters, it still couldn't connect to the net :(

Are you sure that the static IP address you have assigned the NAS is outside the DHCP ip range on the router? Is it possible another device is using the same IP address?

There is no "automatic input" when you're configuring a static address - the onus is on YOU to make sure ALL of the required entries are in place.
Consider the "ghost" entries you see on a DNS-323 to be suggestions, but the final say as to what should be there comes from you.

Sounds like you are missing the default gateway or you used an incorrect value.
