Title: Shareport Utiltiy run as Service?
Post by: Tonga on March 13, 2010, 06:02:34 PM
Can the shareport service run as a service?
I want to use it with my WHS (Windows Home Server) to plug in an external Hard Drive.
This being the case, the user will always be logged off.

I think not without special programs like Firedaemon....

Yes, you can run any program as a service, google anyservice installer whs . Once set as a service, close the shareport program and Start the service. If your Shareport program relies on user profile settings, you may need to set the username and password in the service to that of your computer logon.

Example of this is that if you logon to your WHS with remote desktop to logon and have the program run, you logon with a username or Administrator. If you go into the services and right click and choose properties, choose the log on tab, and set to logon using this account and put in your username and password for the WHS logon.

I'll take a look into it and see how it works out.
