Title: VPN Not Connecting with work network when hooked up to DIR-655 router

Hi!
 
  I've been trying to get my work Laptop to connect via the VPN and haven't had much success.  The work Laptop is connected to the internet just fine through wireless and through ethernet.  When I launch the VPN it says it 'connects' however anything I try to access that requires VPN access will not connect and the status shows no data transferring in the VPN client , odd really.

 I've tried toggling on and off the firewall settings IPSec (VPN) and PPTP.
 I've also tried enabling the DMZ for the for the Laptop and no luck. 

The VPN is using some type of AT&T global dialer VPN client.

Also,  If I connect to an 'open' network in the building the VPN 'really' connects and works fine.

Any ideas?

Try resetting your router to factory defaults via the reset button on the back.  You may need to restore some configuration settings after you do that, but make your router configuration as simple as possible to start, so you can see if there's something that you changed somewhere along the line that's keeping your router from working with your company's VPN.

I'm assuming you are right, it has to be a router setting, if you can connect from other networks but not your own.  I assume you can connect and access the web etc. from your computer if you are NOT on VPN.  It's rare to encounter a networks where I can't use VPN if i can connect successfully and access the web.  Can you connect and actually reach external websites if you aren't on VPN?
