Title: Time Machine & AFP
Post by: Ikyo on March 16, 2010, 10:21:34 PM
I have done some searching and see that it is possible to get AFP & Time Machine working on the 323, but wondering about the 343.  My Time Capsule recently died and I am looking for a more redundant solution.  I don't mind doing some tweaking, but I would like to stay away form having to create sparsebundles and move them around.  I sometimes need to perform backups on many different machines so having to create a sparsebundle for each would be a big PITA.  I know the new version of AFP for linux was supposed to have a ton of new features in it.  Hopefully it has eliminated some of the steps.

I saw Bonjour app for 323. Do you think it might work on 343 as well?

I would recommend not using the Bonjour add-on.  Please see my other post for more details:

Instead, I would recommend Avahi via ffp.

I have issue after I copy fun_plug files on my newly re-formated RAID5 DNS-343 and reboot - nothing happened, those 2 files are still sitting in Volume_1 untouched. Any idea what to do? I have 1.03 firmware. Don't know what to do...

Hi
as a newbie I installed fun_plug and netatalk. My last issue is that I cant write to the volumes offered by afpd. Which file and how to modify to allow me read/write access via afp?
