I purchased a DLINK DIR-655 router about 6 weeks ago.
For the first couple of weeks, it seemed to work great. For the past month, though, I'm intermittently losing connectivity using a cable modem. When this happens, Windows 7 gives me the option of running diagnostics. When I do that, it comes back and tells me that there is a problem with my wireless router and a reboot may be needed. I reboot the router (PC shutdown, unplug the router, unplug the cable modem, and power them back on in reverse order) and all is fine.
It hasn't gotten to the point of this being a nuisance but I'm afraid it will.
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to determine the problem and correct it? I'm reluctant to do a firmware upgrade, due to all of the negative publicity in this forum, but will if I have to.

You're likely going to have to provide your HW and FW revisions.

My hardware is an HP P6350F running Windows 7 64bit.
My modem hardware is a DIR-655, Firmware 1.32NA.
Was that what you needed for me to provide?

Some additional information.
When I run IE8 diagnostics after no connectivity, the following message comes up:
"Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP connection.

update the firmware to 1.33. I had the same issues and it is better! Not great but better.

I am running 1.33NA
I had to turn off the router AND cable modem 3 times within a few hours this weekend (Sunday actually).
I was Remote Desktopped from mmy laptop (wireless) to my desktop (wired).
I noticed my downloads were stalled on my laptop. I waited around 2-3 minutes for them to resume. They did not. Since I was RDed to a wired device, I checked for interent, nothing. Cable modem lights looked like it was happy.
I turned off the power to the router, turned on, waited about a minute, no internet.
I turned off the power to the router AND cable modem, turned back on, after about a minute I had internet. Then, I lost internet again in about an hour. This happened 3 times, then I just gave up messin' with it and turned both laptop and desktop off.
The cable modem looked like it was working properly. I tried loggin in to the router but was having problems doing so, it would not let me enter my password (no feedback).
How do I check the logs and where do I find them to check? The logs I did find didn't tell me anything.

do you have intel 5100/5300 wireless card by any chance ? if so, disable wireless n on the card and then try.. dir-655 is amazingly unstable with these cards, not sure why.
still looking.
