I've got a 20meg cable connection. For a while I was getting full speed using the DIR-615 with the PC hooked up via Lan. Now my speed has dropped to 6MB if I'm lucky. When the cable modem is connected directly to the PC, I get a solid 20MB.
No amount of rebooting or tweaking of settings seems to help.
I'm using 4.11 firmware, but I was having this problem with earlier firmware as well. I thought a firmware upgrade might help. Unfortunately not.
Anybody experiencing the same or have any suggestions?
Many thanks

6MB means 6 Megabytes which is good.
20MB is not possible by normal ethernet cable. The CAT5 ethernet cable can only support a maximum of 10,2 MBytes/s. You meant 6 Mbits and 20 Mb(Mbits) which is MBytes x 8.

Thanks for the pedantic correction.
But you haven't given me any idea as to why my connection is 30% of what it should be when connected through the modem on a wired connection.

I have the same router. Revision D1, firmware 4.11
Go into Lan Setup http://192.168.0.1/bsc_lan.php (http://192.168.0.1/bsc_lan.php)

Uncheck DNS Relay

Wireless Channel :
Set a channel not used in your area. Channel 6 is the most used as it is the default one so change it to a different one if there are other wireless networks in your area on that channel.
Choose one channel from 1, 9,11 as these are the non overlapping channels. See that there aren't any networks set on these channels.

Transmission Rate : Best - Don't set anything else. The router will choose the best rate.(doh):)
What type of encryption did you set for the wireless connection in http://192.168.0.1/bsc_wlan.php (http://192.168.0.1/bsc_wlan.php)?
Is it set as:

Thanks for this, but I'm not sure you understand my problem. I probably didn't make myself clear.
Wireless is not a problem.
My PC is connected via Lan on the router. When it is, my internet connection varies between 30% and 60% of what I get when the PC is connected directly to the modem, bypassing the router.
Why is the router limiting my speed on a Lan (wired) connection? How can I correct it.
BTW, using the settings you suggest stops my internet from working entirely!

I see, misread your post.
Check your adapter properties. What type of cable are you using to connect your router to your cable modem?
Btw, those settings work for me without a problem, so you're doing something wrong.

When I first got the router, my speeds were fine. Then, a week ago, the problem started. Same adapter, same cable.
I upgraded the firmware to 4.11 hoping that would fix it, but no luck.
Fiddling with settings doesn't seem to help. Could it be a hardware issue?

Hi
Flash the fw using the Emergency webpage as I detailed here: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=10285.msg72088#msg72088 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=10285.msg72088#msg72088)
Let me know how it went !
