Want to allow granddaughter network access but block internet access.. Was easy with my last router with mac control setup.. I tried this now using mac control command but it just blocks all.. Also can it be setup to allow timed or daily internet window for a single computer? Presently she has a wireless connection..

should be able to do this....but as I type this I am not sure if it works as you are asking for. I have schedules set up to block all access after a certain hour, not worried about local access only.
Now I have to say hmmmmmmm......

Thanx for the reply.. We have network drives attached to our setup and a lot of the data and info from various software is stored there.. Seems once she has the internet up all her chat stuff comes up and she gets distracted.. Was hoping to balance her time to help her stay on task.... Was just going to just block her chat stuff but she just adds a new proggie to keep up with friends.. I told her hey, we got free phone service.. Says it wastes to much time.. figures...

What exactly are you asking.... for her not to have internet access period, or do you just want to have her internet service scheduled? Disabling the DNS on her pc should deny her internet access completely yet keep her on your local network (Static IP required). If you want her to access the internet at a certain time frame, you can create a rule in the router specifically to her IP address.

Static ip is no good.. See has friends that has 'fixed' her computer for her before.. The easiest way would be through her mac address but when I try to use her mac address to control her access she loses all local network too.. Would be nice to know how to allow timed access too though.. Not just a time of day but total time per day but I think I'm asking too much from this router..

There is a way to configure access control along these lines. You can set a schedule - days of the week and hours of the day, and allow "full access", "some access" or "No access". I believe that if you allow "some access" there's some configuration you have to go through to specify WHAT access is allowed.
I did this using "No Access" to boot my kids after a certain hour based on the days of the week.
I don't think there's any way to boot them based on "using the internet X minutes or hours per day" but that is a nice idea!

I am not sure this can be done. So far as I have seen, the Access controls settings block all network access, or it blocks SOME access according to Website filter table, and/or by a pre-defined time schedule.
Intuitively, you should think blocking internet while allowing for local LAN access would be a no-brainer, but the DIR-655 may well NOT support this concept.

I don't think that the "Block some access" will work for him. You could always get a switch and add it to the mix. It will do the trick for you. Basically you have to setup her pc as well as all the other pcs that you want her to access (Server, Shared drives etc) to the switch. This way she will not have an problems accessing them since she is not going through the router. Let the router do the rest of the work by denying internet access as suggested by SammyDad1. Please note that you did not provide any sort of information of what your internal LAN looks like so I cannot say for sure if this is the best option for you. For all I know it may just save you time and money to get the router as you have initially suggested.

My setup now consists of the cable modem to the DIR-655 and that runs to 2 - 16 port cascaded hubs.. Was looking at switches with my initial setup but seemed prices for the number of ports used was really high and the hub did the job.. I do have 75% of the ports filled with network drives, printer, slingbox, 2-video games, network radio thru Onyko receiver, 3-security cameras and network video to various tvs for movie viewing.. The rest goes to wall plates around the house for the other grandchildrens computers.. Seems the oldest granddaughter is the start of my concern for internet because of grades and distractions.. She carries her machine all over the house and stays wireless.. Was using a Belkin wireless g plus mimo router.. Access control was so easy with it.. Just was looking for the 1gig ports to help video with this new router.. Seems like this router doesn't yet have what I need.... sigh..
