Title: DNS-323 appear as another drive?
Post by: netmation on February 14, 2008, 03:23:21 PM
Will the hard drives on the DNS-323 just appear as another drive in a Windows Network?  Can I run things like ZIP archive tools on files stored on the DNS-323 from a local workstation?  The fact that it formats the drive Ext2/Ext3 puzzles me what it will look like from a windows workstation since I am not that familar with Linux.

Thanks to a piece of software known as SAMBA, the DNS-323 will, for the most part, behave like, and appear to be, just another Windows system in "My Network Places".

Correct. So you can also create a shortcut and place it on your desktop for easy access.
