Hello.
We have a DNS-343 at the office and (like most others it appears), anyone running Snow Leopard cannot access any volumes through the Finder. FTP works fine, but nobody running 10.6 or above is able to connect by either browsing the Network, or using the Connect to Server command.
Although I've seen several posts on how to resolve this issue with a DNS-323 (upgrade firmware to 1.08, or use "smb://ip address")... I've yet to see any fix specific to the DNS-343. It's been frustrating.
So my question is... what can I do to fix this on the 343? Can I install firmware version 1.08 for the 323 onto my 343 to fix this? (My gut says, no way)
What is the issue and why does Snow Leopard work on the 323 but not the 343 when they appear (to me) to be essentially the same device, but with different number of drive bays.
Thanks to anyone who has the time and patience to help.
Cheers!

Have you thought about fun_plug'ing your DNS so that you can run AFP and Avahi?
I have had no problems connecting my many different Mac's on my network to either device over afp.

Well... it's an option, but we have enough files on there now that I'd prefer not to have install or run anything that isn't officially supported. I've seen enough posts on reboot issues after fun_plug'n that I'm wary of installing it on a company device.
Anyone have theories, or is there an official response, on why this issue has been fixed on the 323 while the 343 seems to be ignored? That seems like really bad customer support to me.
Thanks for your reply.

I think you're not seeing a fix because it's not a widespread issue.
I am running 10.6.3 and am NOT having ANY issues connecting to my box...

Yep, i can confirm that both my 343 and 323 are automatically detected by my mac. The 323 had a few smaller issues until i installed the bonjour addon, but for some reason the 343 has always just appeared in the 'shared' devices section.

I can share the 343 from an iMac and from a Gateway (running XP). However I'm perplexed about how to get the 343 to host Time Machine under Snow Leopard 10.6.3. If you are running Time Machine can you advise me on what I should do?
