Title: DCS-5300 PAN SPEED
Post by: razorback on April 01, 2010, 12:26:08 PM
I'm wanting to set up a slow-panning webcam showing the street outside our building. I want it to slowly and continuously pan back and forth over an arc of about 180 degrees.

The DCS-5300 says it has "auto pan" of user-selectable speed. I downloaded the user's manual and it tells how to turn on the auto pan feature, and how to select one of 5 pan speeds.

What it doesn't tell me, and what I'd like to know before I buy the camera, are:

1) What is the minimum pan speed? I'm thinking 1/3 rpm (2 degrees a second) would be ideal for my needs. I could stand it going a little faster, but 1 rpm (6 degrees/second) would be too fast for what I want to show.

2) When you put it on auto pan, does it continue to pan back and forth "forever" or doesn't it just do it once and stop?
