Title: No one on Channel 2 but strongest outside RSSI is on 3... inSSIDer
Post by: knild556 on April 06, 2010, 10:21:53 AM
I'd like to use Channel 2 because of the 15 networks inSSIDEer detects, nobody's on it. Is there a reason for that, not using channel 2? Anyways, the strongest outside signal comes in on channel 3, must be my next door neighbour, and it actually comes in stronger than my network's RSSI when I bring the laptop to the far corner of my house.

Anyways, is there absolutely no difference in chances of interference by selecting to be on channel 2 as opposed to staying well away from him on channel 11? Forget the fact that there are weak networks on 11, I'm curious as to number proximity in channels vis a vis interference. Thanks! :)

Stay away as far as possible from you neighbour's channel, with at least three channels in between since the channels are overlapping (thus the minimum of three channels).
