Title: DIR-655 - SETUP - NETWORK SETTINGS - ROUTER SETTINGS
Post by: bobii on April 08, 2010, 01:38:53 PM
I have a DIR-655 running Firmware Version 1.21. I am trying to change the "ROUTER SETTINGS" in the "NETWORK SETTINGS" section to correspond to my LAN's router requirements. I want to set up not only the Router IP Address and Subnet Mask but also the Default Gateway and the Primary and Secondary DNS. When I initially click on "NETWORK SETTINGS," for a split second, I can see a box for "Default Gateway," "Primary DNS Server," and "Secondary DNS Server," and then those boxes disappear. Is there a setting somewhere that will allow these boxes to not only remain displayed but will also allow changes? Thank you.

What Internet Browser are you using for logging into the Router? Some of the Internet Browsers are not that capable of handling the specifics of the HTML used. This could result in screens being displayed incorrectly.

I am using Windows Internet Explorer 7.

Ok, that should not generate the problem seen.

Those settings belong to the "Manual Internet Setup" page (Navigate here via the following path: Setup[top]->Internet
->Manual Internet Connection Setup[button]), and somehow are temporary visible in your browser.

This could be explaned by a slow machine, odd interpretation by your browser (unlikely), or magick.

Hope this helps.  :)

Is there some other area in the DIR-655 network setup that will allow the assignment of my LAN's default gateway?

Try setting your style in Internet explorer to "off" or "no Style" and log into your router. You can do this when on the router login page.
Go to Page in your IE menu bar, and click on Style, then No Style
This may help you get to the Manual Internet Configuration screen, although it will look different, will still do the same changes to settings.
