Title: Cant't find network printer
Post by: mihies on April 09, 2010, 11:55:25 AM
I have installed DNS-323 without disks, attached Samsung CLP-550 (recognized in server page) but I can't find DNS-323 on network - it isn't listed nor entering \\X.X.X.X\lp helps.
Tried from Win7 x64 and WinXP (from within VMWare Workstation).

Is there anything one has to do to enable print server? ???

DNS-323 is running 1.07 and both my computer and DNS are in same workgroup.

Nevermind, I actuall see it. It is right there, \\name\lp.
So far so good, but when I want to add a "New Local Port" on existing printer I always get this message:
---------------------------
Local Port
---------------------------
The network name cannot be found.

Hm. Any idea?

So instead adding a local port, I've found lp on NAS, right click Connect... and picked printer's driver. And voila - lp on DLink appeared in my printers.
However, nothing gets to the printer - test page nor anything.

At least one disk will be required as that's were the print queue will be created.

Aaaa, I thought I was missing something obvious. Shame that this isn't mentioned anywhere. Will try later when I'll add a disk.

Thanks.
