Title: Resetting Password?
Post by: ChickenChaser2 on April 12, 2010, 01:34:02 AM
I have tried through many different ways to change my password for my wireless router. Someone (most likely my next door neighbors' kid, but I'm not pointing any fingers) have gotten into my WiFi, and I just want it stopped. I would like to change my password to something more secure but I have not found a way to do this.

I have tried going through the disk to see if my password is somewhere in there, program files, readme.txt's (or the like. I didn't fiddle with anything that had a .dll at the end), and even the IP address where you can log in to your router (big surprise, you need your password to get in!).

I use my iTouch quite frequently, as my girlfriend uses this computer for work (Probably sleeping on the couch for even touching this computer), and it's how I stay online and connected with my work schedule. I can't be late, or I get fired.

Please do help soon,

im not an expert, but try first to do a hard reset on router.

with a pensil push teh botton for 10 sec i think, and make a new config of the network,

put a password on the admin, dont let it be on default.

then select manual wireless config and select Wireless Security Mode and enable WEP

then select

WEP Encryption for 64 bit
Default WEP Key wep key 1
and put a passord for 5 letter for example.

but let seem if some one got better opinion.

best regards

You can connecta PC to LAN port1 and run setup programme again from CD and it will detect the router and ask you to provide password and there is another option to "continue with out password" and if you select that it will ask you are you going to replace existing router ? The configuration will start fresh and it will give an option to set a new password. I tired it and worked for me.

Why on earth are you using wep key encryption????!?! That's breakable in 10 min. Use a proper WAP2 key and nobody will ever get into your wifi.

https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm (https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm)

And MxM, you could've told him to set 12345 as password, the same thing. 64 bit key is the weakest key ever possible. The 615 knows 128 bit wep keys too and as I said both are breakable. Easy.

No wep. WAP2 + AES CYPHER. Look for that in your router config pages.

would you reset your router
if you want to take a pen and go to your router, check the network connections when you look you will see a small hole that says reset to fit in the pen where there for 20 seconds
when it is orange on the front, it is clear
