Hi,
Sometimes when i'm using the internet on my internal computers (behind the DIR-615 Router) the DNS service provided by the router fails. When this issue happens my only solution was to reboot the router >:(
As this issue has happened many many times, i have diagnosed a little bit this issue and i found that if i release and renew the IP address assigned by the ISP this DNS problem desapears for some time.
When this error happens, i can still access the router (the administration pages) and ping it from any computer in the private lan. The only problem for know is that the DNS server/forwarder of the router failing to resolve DNS queries sent by the hosts in the internal network.
I have searched the router logs but i don't see any error or warning.
Is this i known issue?
Some notes about the config/hardware
- ISP assigned IP using DHCP
- Internal computers are connected directly to the DIR-615 router using ethernet ports
- DIR-615 is managing the IP address for the internal hosts using builtin DHCP server
- Firmware Version : 4.00 , Wed 22 Oct 2008
- ISP assigned leased time: 2h
Thanks

Update to the latest 4.11 firmware. ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/dir_products/dir-615/dir-615_fw_v4-11_rev_D1.zip (http://ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/dir_products/dir-615/dir-615_fw_v4-11_rev_D1.zip). Flash it using the Maintenance->Firmware tab
I assume it is a D1 revision router.
